Owen decides to stay in the Bay to learn more about his family history and later discovers that he and Evan are twins, who were separated at birth and adopted. Owen asks Ryder and Roo to tell him all about Evan and Ryder lends him Evan's guitar, so he will feel a connection to his brother. Upon returning to the caravan park, Owen has tea with Roo and they talk about Evan, but she becomes overwhelmed and leaves. She later asks Owen out for a drink and opens up about how she was with Evan when he died and the shock she felt when Owen showed up in the Bay.
Jasmine and Tori find them and Tori works to save Christian, while Lewis leaves the hospital. He later shows up in Jasmine's bedroom and tries to explain that Christian was a danger to other patients. Jasmine denounces Lewis for his actions and declares that Anna would not think highly of what Lewis has done if she were still alive. Jasmine then reveals that Lewis's attempt to kill Christian has failed, as Christian is still alive and is recovering, causing Lewis to break down emotionally and beg Jasmine to make it all stop.
Roo Stewart
Frank agrees to marry her and Roo tries to accept Alf and Ailsa's marriage. Brett turns up and tells Roo the mumps has left him infertile and that he now wants the baby. She refuses to let him back into her life, so Brett goes to Morag, who tries to talk Roo into changing her mind.

But Gemma pulls away and tells Ben that she is not ready to move on from Mikaere. Nikau confronts his mother for spending the night with Ben and accuses her of disrespecting his father's memory. Ben and Gemma decide to remain friends after facing objections from their families. After the Diner is robbed, Colby Thorne asks Gemma if he can take her fingerprints, but she refuses.

Owen was not a pleasant character and his son Ric was fostered by Sally Fletcher and Flynn Saunders. After going on another date, Roo realised that she doesn’t and couldn’t love him the way she loves Evan. He said his goodbyes to Alf, Roo and Ryder before driving out of town in his kombi. Martha was given up for adoption but returned in March and left in June 2010 .
When Angelo leaves town to chase up a lead, Taylor and Colby have sex at a motel. They begin an affair as Taylor continues to feel neglected by Angelo. When Taylor realises that Willow, Bella and Dean Thompson (Patrick O'Connor) know about the affair, she tries to end it. Walter previously appeared in the show in 2008 as Aaron Copeland. Marco is the brother of established character Ben Astoni and his introduction helps explore Ben's backstory further.

Roo contacts her aunt, Morag Bellingham , who is a judge and asks her to do a background check on Ailsa. At Alf and Ailsa's engagement party, Roo reveals Ailsa went to prison for killing her abusive father. Tired of her behaviour, Alf sends Roo to boarding school in Sydney. After returning from an extended trip to Las Vegas to look after her injured aunt Colleen Smart , Roo was very secretive about her times away. Roo fell unconscious at home and the situation became very serious.
Roo's personality gained an unwelcome reception amongst viewers. Clarke said that "everyone" hated Roo and revealed that people would "boo" at her while attending promotional appearances. On one occasion Clarke had to leave a shopping centre because females were shouting "slut" at her. Clarke said that Roo is "a cow" but defended her because Roo ultimately ends up suffering.
Three months after securing a place at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Fox-Reo was offered the role of Nikau, and he chose to give up his place at the academy to accept it. He admitted that he has been suffering from home sickness since relocating to Sydney, where the show's studio is located. Fox-Reo, Kipa-Williams, and Ethan Browne form the serial's new Māori family.
In 2018, Alf tells Roo that Martha did not drown in 1985, as Roo had been led to believe, and is still alive and out there somewhere. Martha comes to Summer Bay House and meets Ryder Jackson, who asks if she wants to rent a caravan from Alf. It is revealed that Martha knew that Alf’s sister, Morag Bellingham was Bobby’s mother and subsequently had her adopted out to Al (George Leppard; Terence Donovan) and Doris Simpson. Martha Stewart is the first wife of Alf Stewart and the mother of Roo Stewart. Martha left Alf and made Alf tell Roo that she has drowned and died.
Inside Soap ran a feature compiling "The 100 greatest soap stories ever told". They featured Roo and Frank's wedding story as their 66th choice. In 1987, Clarke auditioned for the roles of Carly Morris, Lynn Davenport and Bobby Simpson; but was unsuccessful each time.
Roo and Harvey break up when she learns he sabotaged Alf's boat. Roo is disgusted when Harvey tries to blackmail John and she persuades Alf to stand against him during the council elections. Roo later takes a job alongside Harvey and becomes jealous of him and his girlfriend, Fleur Simpson . Roo and Harvey later get back together and she is surprised when his ex-wife, Mel , and daughter, Lottie , arrive in Summer Bay.
He manages to revive Colby and accompanies him to the hospital, where Christian Green takes over treatment. When Jasmine is told by the guards that she cannot contact Colby's sister, Bella Nixon , Lewis goes with her to inform Bella and Dean Thompson (Patrick O'Connor). They come up with a plan to distract the guards and get Bella and Dean into visit Colby. Jasmine and Lewis spend the day together as she shows him around the Bay. He asks her about Christian and learns that they had a few issues early on, as he is dating the mother of Jasmine's stepdaughter.

She pretends to accept Alf and Ailsa's relationship so she will be allowed to stay. Roo sleeps with Frank and arranges for Alf to catch them together. She tells her aunt, Celia Stewart , that she is pregnant with Frank's baby.

In the interim, he's left pacing in the waiting area, while Marilyn joins Alf and comforts him while he waits. In the scenes, which are new to UK viewers, family friend Marilyn perceives that Roo is worried about being out of control during the transplant situation. Meanwhile, Roo confesses she can't relax until everything is over. Viewers will know that Martha has been very ill for a number of months now, and daughter Roo has agreed to donate a kidney to her.
